Schoen Clinic are looking for a Psychotherapist/CBT Therapist on a part-time basis (3 x days a week) for our new inpatient eating disorders unit for adults in York. This is an exciting opportunity to take a lead role in the development of the service. This wil be based on a 6 month fixed-term contract.

The successful candidate will be responsible for completing assessments, formulation and delivering individual psychotherapy based on evidence-based practice. There are also opportunities for group work. 

The successful candidate will represent psychotherapy/psychology at MDT meetings and effectively communicate patients formulations and treatment recommendations. They will be compassionate, an analytical thinking, a team player and have knowledge of adult mental health; particularly in the areas of eating disorders, trauma and neurodiversity.

Principle Duties

 

Clinical

  • Carry an individual caseload, under supervision, providing appropriate assessment, formulation and evidence-based therapy
  • Manage this caseload including formulating, planning, risk assessment and evaluating interventions 
  • Contribute to delivery of the psychological groups programme   
  • Assist in the development of the team’s formulation and therapeutic skills
  • Support other members of the team, providing consultancy, and training as appropriate
  • Participate in a programme of continuing professional development and annual appraisal
  • To consult with colleagues in the multi-disciplinary team on psychological aspects of clients’ assessments/formulation and therapy plans
  • To attend MDT meetings and CPA reviews  
  • To attend and engage with team supervision and development activities
  • To participate in other meetings or committees as necessary
  • Involves and engages users of the service and others in discussions about service direction, improvements and the values on which they are based
  • Actively creates opportunities to enable everyone to learn from each other and from external good practice
  • Works with others to make sure there is a clear direction for values, strategies and policies and leads the way when interests are in conflict
  • Evaluates the quality of own and others’ work and raises quality issues and related risks with the appropriate people

Support

  • Assist in the development of the team’s formulation and therapeutic skills
  • Support other members of the team, providing consultancy, and training as appropriate
  • Liaise with community services, social care and other agencies as necessary

Professional

  • Maintain registration with the BACP/UKCP/BABCP
  • Participate in appraisal and mandatory training
  • Engage in continuing professional development (CPD)
  • Remain up to date with current knowledge and practice
  • Act at all times within the regulations and recommendations of the BACP/UKCP/BABCP
  • Operate within boundaries of own professional competence
  • Maintain professional boundaries
  • Be familiar with Schoen Clinics policies and procedures
  • Be familiar with the individual and group treatment programme at Schoen Clinic, York
  • Ensure good communication with patients and families and colleagues
  • Report any untoward incidents in line with Schoen Clinic policy and procedures
  • Obtain regular clinical supervision from an accredited supervisor 

Administrative

  • To record client contacts and assessments according to relevant policies, using computerised system
  • To provide written reports on assessments, formulation, therapeutic progress and outcomes for colleagues and referrers
