Family Therapist with Social Work

Schoen Clinic York have a fantastic opportunity for a Family Therapist with Social Work to work as a member of the Multi-disciplinary team to represent a care management/social work perspective to patients experiencing mental health difficulties.
Description

Schoen Clinic York are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to join their team as a Family Therapist with Social Work on a part time basis working 15 hours per week.

The focus of the role is to provide a high standard of healthcare for a group of patients and be an effective team member, supporting, encouraging and enabling individuals to maximise their potential. You will work as part of the multi-disciplinary team in a unique, innovative and fast growing service,

As a Support Worker, you will work under the direction of a qualified nurse to support the management of the shift, prioritising tasks, allocating duties and ensuring they are completed to a high standard. You will have some line management responsibilities for more junior staff.

Principle Duties

Key Accountabilities:

  • To work within an awareness of NICE guidelines
  • To be responsible for establishing therapeutic (healing) relationships with the patients.
  • Undertake regular physical observations of patients, as directed by nursing staff, and feedback on their level of risk appropriately.
  • To support and supervise patients when on community leave.
  • To support and supervise patients at meal times.
  • Contribute to group programmes provided for the patients at Schoen Clinic York.
  • To liaise with Staff Nurses, Occupational Therapists and MDT members in terms of unit activity.
  • To report any issue of concern to Staff Nurses.

 

To work within the Health and Safety policies in accordance with Schoen Clinic guidelines. Demonstrate awareness of safeguarding principles in all dealings with young people and their families. Assist Occupational therapists and Assistant psychologists to deliver therapies, as time permits, and with agreement of nursing staff. As per the needs of the hospital, help staff and support other on site services.

Professional:

To operate within self-assessed competence, as per Schoen Clinic York induction.To maintain professional boundaries with patients at all times.To utilise appropriate systems of communication.To ensure own professional supervision is maintained.To provide support to the Staff Nurses.To provide support and direction to junior members of staff.

Educational:

Participate in Schoen Clinic York clinical supervision and appraisal process,Identify your own mandatory/professional training needs and personal development, undertaking training as provided to ensure your required training is kept up to date.

Organisational:

Be responsible for reading, understanding and complying with all relevant Schoen Clinic and statutory policies and procedures.

Communication:

To ensure that adequate and timely written and electronic records are kept which comply with Schoen Clinic guidelines and policies.Use appropriate IT systems to facilitate effective communicationContribute to MDT meetings by providing feedback on the physical and psychological progress of the patients.Ensure effective communication with patients and their carers in line with Schoen Clinic guidelines on confidentiality.Actively participate in organising and supporting regular staff meetings.

Skills

  • Degree of equivalent in social work
  • Current social work England registration 
  • Level 3 safeguarding training for adults and children 
  • Strong understanding of confidentiality and appropriate information sharing 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills 
  • Maintains a professional conduct at all times 
  • Excellent communication skills including negotiation and role modelling
  • Experience of multi-disciplinary working with adults with mental health conditions.
  • Practice experience of applying assessment skills within a statutory social work setting.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding for adults with care and support needs and children at risk. 
  • Knowledge of methods of social work intervention.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations guidance & policy issues.
  • Knowledge & understanding of reporting issues to relevant external bodies.
  • Contemporary knowledge of social work & social work applications; i.e. attachment theory, enabling change and behaviour management.
