PRINCIPAL DUTIES

 

Clinical:

 

To support the clinical and support teams to deliver high-quality person-centered care in line with the recovery approach and our holistic community-based pathways.

 

To be responsible for working with the Lead OT to assist in planning, developing, providing and evaluating Occupational Therapy interventions and services.

 

To meet individual patient identified needs and to promote independence and personal choice, encouraging patients with varied and complex needs to develop life skills and realise their potential.

 

The post holder will work alongside the Hospital Lead OT but after induction and training will be required to work independently in a variety of settings including people’s homes,.

 

The role includes assessment, joint care planning and intervention in all aspects of Occupational Therapy.

 

You will be responsible for effectively managing your own caseload and will have excellent prioritisation and organisational skills.

 

Successful applicants will need to be highly motivated, and enthusiastic. The post also requires some flexible working to incorporate an early evening cooking session once a week.

 

Professional: 

To be responsible for ensuring that confidentiality is maintained at all times in accordance with the Data Protection Act, The Children’s Act, Child Protection Legislation and Schoen Clinic Chelsea Policy.

 

Educational:

To develop and maintain skills required to practice in the field through planning/participation in and delivery of in-service training programmes, courses, reading and development, record evidence of this in a CPD portfolio and ensure it is implemented into practice and evaluated within the specialist area.

 

To provide mentoring and support to others to increase their skills and effectiveness within the clinical area

.

To participate in clinical/management supervision and practice support to review and reflect on your own practice.

 

The Successful Candidate:

 

  • Will hold a Degree/ Postgraduate Diploma (or equivalent) in Occupational Therapy, be registered with the HCPC (Health Care Professions Council) and be a member of the RCOT (Royal College of Occupational Therapy)
  • Is currently operating as a Band 5, however newly qualified OTs will also be considered
  • Will have a thorough understanding of Occupational Therapy process
  • Will have the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Will have excellent communication and time management skills
  • Experience in the field of adult mental health is desirable

 

The successful candidate will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS and reference check and an offer of employment will be subject to successful clearance.
