About the Role

As Occupational Therapist, you will be expected to support the Occupational Therapy Team to manage a defined caseload of young people with eating disorders using evidence based/client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions at Schoen Clinic Newbridge. You will also need to maintain clinical records and work creatively alongside wider OT team to facilitate individual and group occupational therapy intervention and support young people in the community.


Here are some of the key things you'll be responsible for:

  • Supporting patients to help them set and work towards agreed goals

  • To assist the OT team to plan and implement individual and/or group interventions, in collaboration with the patients, using graded activity to achieve therapeutic goals

  • Carrying out observations, e.g. how a patient copes with daily living functions and feeding back information to the OT and MDT as appropriate

  • Planning. setting up of groups and leading activities (following a period of training and shadowing of OTs)

  • To comply with the Royal College of Occupational Therapy Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct

  • To be a registered member of the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) and follow relevant national policies and guidelines in conjunction with Schoen Clinic Newbridge procedures

  • After 1 year in post to attend practice educator training to support a student

Skills & requirements

The successful candidate will have a Good standard of education e.g. GCSE or equivalent and to be able to demonstrate theoretical knowledge gained to this level through formal training or experience.


  • Knowledge of eating disorders

  • Knowledge of mental health conditions

  • Creative skills e.g. art/craft

  • Car driver with daily use of own vehicle and business insurance to carry patients and staff (or willing to obtain this on commencing in post)

  • Basic IT skills – email, Word, Excel etc

  • Experience of working with young people age 8 – 18 years

  • Experience of working in healthcare and/or educational settings

  • Experience of documenting

  • Basic IT skills – email, Word, Excel etc
