Dr Ian Beasley has over 30 years’ experience in Sport and Exercise Medicine (SEM). He is Senior Lecturer in SEM at the Centre for Sports and Exercise Medicine, Queen Mary College, and Clinical Lead in SEM at Bart’s Health NHS Trust.
He has worked in professional football for over 30 years, which included posts at Arsenal FC, and as Head of Medical Services for the Football Association and Doctor to the England Senior Men’s Football Team. Currently, Dr Beasley is match day medical co-ordinator (tunnel doctor) for AFC Bournemouth, and attending consulting physician at Manchester City FC reviewing medical policy and practice for the various teams that the City Football Group have stakes in worldwide. He was Team Doctor for the London Broncos RFL Team, and has also served on the UEFA Medical Committee.
His unique knowledge and experience in sports medicine is not limited to football, as he is also Medical Adviser for The Royal Ballet Company, a position he has held since 2007, specialising in all kinds of injuries for dancers of all levels. Furthermore, he has travelled the world with sports teams, including to Olympic and Commonwealth Games with England and Great Britain Hockey, for whom he was Governing Body Medical Officer for ten years.
