Mr Rajaratnam treats a number of professional and amateur sportspeople with soft tissue injuries of the knee. He is an expert on rapid recovery following ACL reconstruction and is recognised as one of the leading knee specialists in the UK.

Mr David Sweetnam

Mr Sweetnam has 30 years’ experience of treating injuries in both professional and amateur skiers, 20 years of which as a consultant Sports and Trauma Surgeon. He first published on the subject in The British Journal of Sports Medicine in the early 1990s looking at the impact on the NHS of people returning from the slopes with skiing injuries.

Mr Livio Di Mascio

Mr Di Mascio has a keen interest in treating skiing and sporting injuries in patients from amateur to elite athletes. Working at The Royal London Hospital, one of the busiest trauma centres in the UK, he sees a lot of skiing injuries during the winter season. He is also an avid skier himself.

Mr Ali Abbasian

Mr Abbasian has a keen interest in treating skiing and sporting injuries in patients from amateur to elite athletes. Foot and Ankle injuries are common in skiers and snowboarders and the correct diagnosis and management is important to prevent longer term problems. Mr Abbasian has a large sports injury practice with Ski and snowboard injuries occupying a larger proportion during the winter months.

Mr Giuseppe Sforza

Having both studied medicine and worked as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in Italy, Mr Sforza is well placed to understand the environment in which skiing injuries happen and the problems an injured patient can experience trying to navigate the medical system whilst abroad. Mr Sforza has a special interest in shoulder sports injuries, particularly in skiers and snowboarders.

Mr Adrian J Carlos

Mr Carlos is an experienced shoulder surgeon and upper limb specialist. He works at London’s major trauma centre, the Royal London Hospital, and expertly treats many patients with sports injuries. As a skier himself and someone who regularly treats winter sports injuries, he is aware of the range of injuries that can result from a skiing accident and aims to tailor each patient’s management to their needs.

Sports Exercise Medicine team

Our Consultant Sports Exercise Medicine Physicians work at both national and international level across many sports from gold medal Olympians and Paralympians to recreational sports people. Many are keen skiers themselves and between them they have many years’ experience in treating such injuries.

The physiotherapists at Schoen Clinic London are all Charted Physiotherapists, each with their own areas of expertise including sports injury specialists. Their focus is not just on returning people to skiing and sport but also on injury prevention and perhaps even performing better than they did originally.

Bracing and biomechanics

Our consultant team are supported by Serena Stubbs, a Clinical Specialist Orthotist with nearly 20 years’ experience in the NHS and private sector. Serena has a special interest in the lower limb (knee, foot and ankle conditions) working to provide biomechanical solutions to help in the rehabilitation of orthopaedic patients.
