Attending Schoen Clinic London: what to bring

When you attend Schoen Clinic London for treatment, please bring the following with you:

  • Medical insurance registration documents.

  • The pre-authorisation code issued by your medical insurer.

In order to meet the admission requirements of many insurance companies, we may need you to provide the date when your symptoms first started and the date you first visited your GP.

We will invoice your insurance company directly for treatment undertaken. Occasionally, there may be a policy shortfall to pay and we will work with you and your insurer to ensure you are aware of fees if this is the case with your policy. 

At the end of your stay, if you receive an invoice for treatment which is fully covered under your policy (possibly from the hospital or your Consultant), these should be forwarded to your insurance company. If you don't have your pre-authorisation number to hand when you first come into hospital for treatment, you may be asked to settle your account in full before leaving.

Additional costs for any extras, such as telephone calls, newspapers and magazines and visitor meals, will be chargeable and payable when you leave the hospital.

Using your private medical insurance

Step 1. Gain authorisation from your insurance company. We work with all the major health insurance companies. Before attending an appointment, it is important to check that your insurance policy will cover you and if there is an excess to pay.

Most insurance companies require a referral letter from your GP.

Step 2. Once your insurance company has authorised your hospital visit/treatment, contact us to make your appointment.

The information we need

Step 3. So that we can bill your insurer directly, here is what we will need from you:

  • The name of your insurance company.

  • Your membership or policy number.

  • The claim number or authorisation code given to you by your insurance company.

Step 4. We want you to concentrate on your recovery and will liaise directly with your insurers wherever possible to arrange payment.
