Germany's largest family-run clinic group includes some of the country's best hospitals and specialists. This is the result of this year's comparative studies commissioned by the magazine Focus Health.
Of all the hospitals, rehabilitation hospitals and specialists of various specialties located in Germany, 37 experts and 13 locations of Schoen Clinic Group are distinguished by their medical services and therapeutic quality. In the fields of orthopaedics and neurology in particular, the hospital group specializes in international patients.
Every year, the national comparative study by Focus Health examines which are the best consultants, which are the best acute care hospitals and which are the best rehabilitation hospitals in Germany. Since the first survey in 2009, Schoen Clinic Group has received a rising number of awards in this national ranking, mainly based on recommendations from other physicians. The ranking comprises millions of data sets, including interviews with consultants lasting several hours, as well as patients’ opinion, or figures on sustainable treatment success and complication rates.
Top marks in mental health, orthopaedics and neurology
According to the Focus list, Schoen Clinic is characterized by a particularly high degree of specialization in its core areas. The different locations of Schoen Clinic and their chief physicians received a total of 85 awards for their achievements this year. In particular, spinal surgery, joint surgery (knee, foot, hand, hip) and obesity surgery enjoy an excellent reputation among specialists and patients. In the field of neurology, particular emphasis is placed on the treatment of Parkinson's disease patients from other hospitals and rehabilitation hospitals. The locations of Schoen Clinic in Hamburg Eilbek, Harthausen (Bavaria), Lorsch (Hesse), München Harlaching (Bavaria) and Neustadt (Schleswig-Holstein) are among the best hospitals in Germany for the treatment of orthopaedic diseases. For the treatment of Parkinson, the Schoen Clinic München Schwabing (Bavaria) is one of the addresses that physicians would most often recommend. "We are proud that the strong medical specialization and focus on patient outcomes bears fruit for our patients”, says Andreas Ludowig, Executive Director Hospitals at Schoen Clinic.
Specialized in international patients
Most of the orthopaedic and neurological centers of Schoen Clinic offer English and Arabic speaking patients and their relatives special services that make their therapy in Germany easier. For example, these hospitals have an international department with specially trained staff and direct contact persons in the patient service and kitchens. In order to overcome language barriers, our hospitals employ interpreters and native speakers as well as multilingual documents.
The Focus Comparison Study
Every year, Focus Health commissions the independent research institute Minq Media to carry out a quality comparison of all acute care hospitals and rehabilitation hospitals in Germany and to identify the best specialists in the country. The institute conducts a total of more than 20,000 interviews with experts such as physicians, psychologists and hospital directors for all three studies. Scientific activities and patient experiences are also taken into account. In addition, the studies assess case numbers, sustained treatment success, complication rates, hygiene standards and technical equipment, as well as the number and qualifications of consultants, therapists and nursing staff. In 2017, more than 2,500 hospitals and 3,000 specialist departments were compared in this way.
