About Emily Herbert
Qualifications
Masters of Arts in Art Psychotherapy (with Distinction), Bachelor of Arts with Upper Second Class Honours in Graphic Design at Camberwell College of Art. The Health and Care and Professions Council (HCPC) registered. Member of the British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT).
Emily Herbert is an HCPC-registered, experienced Art Psychotherapist based at the Schoen Clinic in Chelsea, working with adult clients.
Emily’s clinical art psychotherapy therapy experience includes working in the NHS with patients who have complex mental and physical health difficulties in acute inpatient, forensic, rehab, learning disability and community settings, with all age groups from children to older adults.
Emily offers a non-judgemental, culturally sensitive and respectful approach which has empowered clients to have a positive and purposeful experience through specialist art therapy interventions. She does this by using a psychodynamic approach, applied psychological theory and hands-on art therapeutic activities, as part of a creative and transformative journey.
Emily’s art therapy studio is a structured, safe and facilitating therapeutic space where individual clients and groups feel supported and connected to use their creativity and explore notions such as identity, self-expression, emotional processing, and personal growth.
With a Graphic Design Degree from Camberwell College of Art and a Masters in Art Psychotherapy with Distinction from Roehampton University, Emily uses her experience and understanding of a wide range of art materials, processes and equipment to enable clients to express and process thoughts and feelings through creative activities as part of the therapeutic process.
Outside of work, Emily enjoys nature walks and travelling. A committed artist, Emily works with experimental, analogue photography and collage using her art practice to express and make sense of her connection with nature and humankind.
