Private London ADHD assessment from Schoen Clinic

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects people of all ages. ADHD affects an individual's ability to concentrate, focus, and complete tasks effectively.

However, the symptoms of ADHD are frequently mistaken for a lack of motivation or laziness, making it difficult to diagnose.

At Schoen Clinic Chelsea, we offer private assessments for adults with suspected ADHD so that an accurate diagnosis can be made and ADHD ruled in or out. It is understood that ADHD has been over-diagnosed globally so it's important to see a Consultant Psychiatrist for a thorough diagnostic assessment.

At Schoen Clinic Chelsea, only our Consultant Psychiatrists with extensive experience in the area carry out ADHD assessments, so you can rest assured you'll receive an accurate diagnosis from a fully qualified specialist. Our Consultant Psychiatrists can prescribe medication for ADHD in the event it is required for the best possible outcome.

At Schoen Clinic Chelsea, we specialise in offering comprehensive adult ADHD assessments with highly experienced Consultant Psychiatrists. For adults with ADHD, a diagnosis will benefit them significantly since there are many effective treatments to help manage ADHD symptoms.

Should medication be clinically required as part of treatment, our Consultant Psychiatrists can prescribe medication for ADHD.

What to expect from an ADHD assessment at Schoen Clinic Chelsea

Our approach to ADHD assessments goes beyond just looking at symptoms. Our team takes a holistic approach to diagnosing ADHD, which means that we take into consideration all aspects of an individual's life, including their medical history, family history, lifestyle, and any other factors that may be contributing to their symptoms. By taking this approach, we can provide a more accurate diagnosis and develop a more effective treatment plan that is tailored to your specific needs.

Once the ADHD assessment has been booked, we'll send some initial questionnaires to be completed prior to the appointment. This questionnaire will be reviewed by one of our Consultant Psychiatrists prior to the full assessment.

The detailed assessment lasts for around 60 minutes and during the appointment, the Consultant Psychiatrist will carry out various assessments using appropriate clinical methods.

This includes screening for conditions that commonly co-exist with ADHD (considering differential diagnosis).

Our ADHD assessments take place in a comfortable and welcoming environment at our outpatient clinic in London.

We understand that the prospect of an ADHD assessment can be daunting, especially for those who may have anxiety or other concerns. Our private clinic is designed to be a calming and supportive space where our patients feel at ease as they undergo their ADHD assessments.

Our team of experienced and compassionate professionals is also here to answer any questions or concerns you may have. We understand that every patient is unique, and we take the time to listen, understand, and support our patients throughout the assessment process.

To get started with private treatment, simply fill out our online pre-screening questionnaire any time to suit you.

Getting a medical diagnosis for ADHD in London

Following the ADHD assessment at our private mental health clinic in London, we'll provide feedback on the findings of the assessment to the adult and if appropriate, their family/partner/carer(s) or advocate.

We'll also identify and discuss any interventions appropriate to the individual’s needs.

A detailed report of the assessment findings, diagnostic outcome and recommendations will be provided and will include any findings that may help the individual to access support in their employment or place of work.

With consent from the patient, we'll share information with their GP and where appropriate, professionals in health/social care and anyone supporting them in the workplace/employment.

We'll schedule a follow-up appointment to discuss the findings from the report with a Consultant Psychiatrist to answer any questions and outline the next steps.

Expected outcomes and things to know following an adult ADHD test

The diagnosis and management of ADHD is a split process. The ADHD test and diagnosis are given in the initial appointment and there is a 30-minute follow-up appointment required to discuss the report and to signpost for any ongoing treatment (if required).

This gives the patient and family time to digest the diagnosis and return with any questions that they have from the initial report and about the diagnosis.

After the ADHD test in London at Schoen Clinic Chelsea, if a positive diagnosis for ADHD has been made, we work with the individual to develop a treatment plan which may include medication, counselling and/or behavioural therapy, based on their needs and in line with NICE recommendations.

We have a variety of group therapies that help with a range of mental health conditions at Schoen Clinic Chelsea which may be beneficial for adults following their ADHD test and subsequent diagnosis.

Our specialised groups are led by expert ADHD therapists in London and can be accessed as part of a full treatment programme, or on a pay-as-you-go basis. Get in touch with our team using our online form or call 0203 146 2300 to find out more.

Whatever the diagnosis, we support our patients to access the right treatment to achieve the best possible outcome.
