About the Role
Schoen Clinic York have a fantastic opportunity for a Kitchen Assistant to join the team on permanent, full time basis.
As a Kitchen Assistant, you will provide kitchen support through completion of cleaning tasks as well as organising stock and general maintenance of kitchen hygiene.
What you will be doing?
Keep all cutlery, crockery and kitchen utensils washed and clean.
Assist the Chef in making sure the kitchen is clean and always sanitised.

Sweep and mop the floors.
Assist the team in putting receiving goods away, rotating stock, disposing of out-of-date items, documenting product temperatures where appropriate e.g., on delivery of chilled or frozen items.
Make sure cleaning schedules, procedures and forms are filled out.
Make sure the pot wash is cleaned regularly.
Make sure dirty aprons, towels etc. are taken to the laundry room to be washed daily.
Take out the garbage/recycling from the kitchen.
Make sure all sinks and blue roll dispensers are fully stocked.
Follow cleaning rota and ensure all tasks are completed.
Skills & requirements
We’re seeking a positive and caring team player to join our kitchen team. You’ll work collaboratively to help provide nutritious meals for our residents while supporting a friendly, respectful, and efficient working environment.
The ideal candidate will:
Be a team player who fosters a supportive and cooperative atmosphere.
Have good communication skills, able to listen carefully and follow instructions.
Be reliable and punctual, showing respect for others’ time and maintaining team trust.
Show a willingness to learn and adapt, with or without previous kitchen or catering experience – full training is provided.
Demonstrate an awareness of food hygiene standards (a Food Hygiene Certificate is desirable but not essential).
