Larry Brown

Larry Brown is a Peer Support Worker within the specialist outpatient addictions programme at Schoen Clinic Chelsea. He brings over seven years’ experience in peer support roles, alongside eight years of lived experience in recovery, offering patients a grounded, relatable, and recovery-focused perspective.

Prior to joining Schoen Clinic Chelsea, Larry volunteered at The Priory, Roehampton, where he supported individuals experiencing substance dependence and co-occurring mental health difficulties. His work focused on supporting people through early recovery, relapse prevention, and the development of sustainable coping strategies to support long-term change.

Larry’s approach is rooted in empathy, authenticity, and hope. Drawing on his own recovery journey, he provides practical, non-judgemental support to patients at all stages of treatment. He works alongside individuals to help them feel understood, motivated, and empowered, particularly during periods of transition, vulnerability, or uncertainty.

He has a particular interest in relapse prevention, emotional regulation, and rebuilding identity in recovery. Larry supports clients to develop confidence, structure, and a renewed sense of purpose beyond addiction, helping them reconnect with their values, relationships, and goals.

As part of the multidisciplinary outpatient addictions team at Schoen Clinic Chelsea, Larry works collaboratively with clinicians to support individuals experiencing addiction and co-occurring mental health conditions. His role focuses on building trusting relationships, encouraging engagement with treatment, and modelling recovery-focused behaviours in a way that feels realistic and achievable.
