Executive management

Andy Davey: UK Managing Director

Andy joined Schoen Clinic in March 2020 and is responsible for leading the UK strategy for growth, clinical excellence as well as the quality agenda. He assumes full accountability to the Board of Directors in Germany as well as our investors, along with overall responsibility for all UK operations.
Andy is shaping and expanding the UK Management Team to support Schoen Clinic’s future growth within the UK healthcare market.
Skills and previous experience
Andy comes with a rich wealth of experience in the independent sector with a successful leadership career spanning 20 years. He has been operating at the executive and senior-level for most of the UK’s leading private healthcare providers including Nuffield Health, Aspen Healthcare, BMI and most recently Spire Healthcare. He has also been the Non-Executive Chairman of STEPS Rehabilitation.

Jasy Loyal: General Counsel

Jasy joined Schoen Clinic in March 2020 as General Counsel and is responsible for all legal services.

Skills and previous experience
Jasy has over 30 years’ experience in the independent healthcare sector and was previously Vice President of Legal Services at HCA International. She has extensive experience in operating at a senior executive level and is also a School Governor and a Magistrate. 

Rachel Matthews: Director of Mental Health 

Rachel is responsible for the overall UK strategy for mental health and is clinical by background, having been heavily involved in research positioning Newbridge on the world stage for children’s eating disorders. Rachel will be leading on developing our mental health portfolio and expansion plans - ensuring that Schoen Clinic UK is recognised for delivering the highest standards of mental health services.

Skills and previous experience
Rachel has extensive experience in mental health services, both in the community and hospital settings. Rachel has was worked in Australia, as well as the UK and having worked at Schoen Clinic Newbridge, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, CAMHS and Forensic Mental Health Services.

Faye Mell: HR Director

Faye joined Schoen Clinic in October 2020 and is responsible for leading the HR team and progressing our people strategy.

Skills and previous experience 
Faye has spent many years in healthcare working in complex organisations and has been instrumental in integrating a diverse range of facilities into one business through proactive change management.

Jen Nel CA (SA): UK Finance Director

Jen joined Schoen Clinic in August 2020. Her portfolio encompasses Finance, Commercial, M&A, Technology, Procurement and Facilities Management – ensuring the UK business is strategically positioned for growth.

Skills and previous experience
Jen is a healthcare expert, with over 20 years’ experience across public, private and professional services. Previous leadership roles include CFO of Healthshare Group, Commercial Finance Director of Viapath Group and KPMG Transaction Services and Healthcare Advisory. Jen is Trustee and Treasurer of the Carers Network Charity.

Laura Penn: UK Sales & Marketing Director

Laura joined Schoen Clinic in January 2021 and is responsible for driving the sales and marketing strategy across the UK sites.

Skills and previous experience
Laura is an experienced healthcare marketing, sales and business development professional having worked for some of the UK’s leading private healthcare providers including Spire Healthcare, Nuffield Health and Aspen Healthcare. She has a consistent track record within the healthcare industry for delivering significant private revenue growth by effectively promoting private healthcare services to the public, GPs and allied healthcare professionals and engaging, and retaining nationally and internationally renowned Consultant Surgeons.

Mike Lord: Commercial Director

Mike joined Schoen Clinic in May 2021 and is responsible for the leadership and development of commercial activities, including organic and acquisition growth. Mike will be working across both Orthopaedic and Mental Health facilities to ensure we continue to grow the opportunities for providing patients with the best possible treatment options.

Skills and previous experience
Mike brings with him a wealth of experience from the independent sector having worked for Aviva Health UK, Nuffield Health and King Edward VII’s Hospital in London’s Harley Medical Street area. Mike’s clear focus is on ensuring commercial arrangements that support integrated customer journeys and delivery of the best possible patient outcomes.

Dr Tony Winston: Medical Director (Mental Health)

Tony has worked as a consultant at Schoen Clinic Newbridge since it was established and was Medical Director there before taking on additional responsibility for Schoen Clinic York and Schoen Clinic Chelsea. He provides medical leadership and has a strategic role in ensuring that all treatment is safe and effective.

Skills and previous experience
Tony qualified in medicine in 1987 and undertook postgraduate training in general medicine, psychiatry, psychotherapy and eating disorders before becoming an NHS consultant in 2000. He combines his role at Schoen Clinic with continuing work in the NHS, where he also has many years’ experience as a medical manager.

Hospital management

Stephen Smith:  Hospital Director, Schoen Clinic London

Stephen’s extensive sector experience spans 35 years and includes Interim Hospital Director of Sheffield’s Claremont Private Hospital, National Managing Director of Virgin Care (UK) and Hospital Director at BMI Healthcare.  He also comes with a wealth of international experience, having previously held senior positions in Australia and the Far East. 

Stephen is responsible for the leadership and further development of Schoen Clinic London which will involve developing the employed Consultant models and partnering with new Consultants to drive quality healthcare and the clinical excellence Schoen Clinic London is widely known for. As well as building new relationships with stakeholders, private medical insurers, GPs and other Allied Health Professionals.

Dr Tim Wigmore: Medical Director, Schoen Clinic London

Tim joined the Schoen Clinic in May 2018 as Medical Director and is a valued member of the Senior Leadership Team, providing oversight of medical governance. 

Skills and previous experience
Tim has worked in the field of anaesthesia and intensive care for 25 years and has spent the last 15 years, focusing on Oncology. He has many years of senior medical leadership experience in the NHS. In addition to being Medical Director at Schoen Clinic London, Tim continues his extensive work at the Royal Marsden as a clinician and researcher as well as being the sector Critical Care Network Chair.

Alex Blatch: Clinic Director, Schoen Clinic Chelsea

Alex joined Schoen Clinic UK in September 2020 and is accountable for the clinical and operational performance of the clinic.

Skills and previous experience
Alex has over 30 years experience of working in mental health in the independent healthcare sector and has been a Therapy Services Manager and a Hospital Director in various hospitals. 

Natalie Maley: Hospital Director, Schoen Clinic Newbridge

Natalie joined Newbridge House (now Schoen Clinic Newbridge) in January 2013. Natalie is accountable for the financial and operational performance of the hospital and ensuring the highest standards of care to the young people and families. Natalie has been instrumental in Newbridge being awarded the prestigious “Outstanding” Care Quality Commission rating in 2016 and 2018.

Skills and previous experience
Natalie has a wealth of experience in child and adolescent mental health services, in both community and hospital settings. Previous work as Clinical Manager at Newbridge Hospital has ensured a comprehensive understanding of patient care, community liaison and multidisciplinary care.

Adam Bloor: Interim Hospital Director,  Schoen Clinic York

Adam joined Schoen Clinic York in May 2022 as Interim Hospital Director. He has over 16 years' experience working with people with mental health conditions as well as those with learning disabilities and complex needs.

Skills and previous experience

Adam brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience from a range of areas within the sector, from rehabilitation to secure provisions. He has previous experience as the Hospital Director of an 85 bed hospital treating a range of conditions including eating disorders, adult psychiatry, CAMHS, addictions and Huntingtons Dementia. Adam has also held the position of Operations Director nationally overseeing 12 mental health hospitals/services across the UK.
