About the Role
Schoen Clinic York has a fantastic opportunity for a Clinical Psychologist to join the team on a full-time, permanent basis.
The successful candidate will contribute to the ongoing development of the service, providing clinical expertise in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. He/she will also be responsible for providing specialist clinical psychological input into the hospital, which will include individual assessment, formulation, intervention and consultation.
The successful candidate will pragmatically draw on the full range of clinical psychology theory to aid assessment and intervention approaches as relevant to this client group while also offering specialist psychological therapy and skills, and will also be supported to further psychological knowledge around this complex patient population, and as such will be supported in research and publications.

Principle Duties
As a Clinical Psychologist, you will be responsible for the delivery of the following:
Clinical
Lead on the provision and development of psychological input into the service, ensuring evidence-based practice with robust governance procedures
Monitor, review and update this provision through consultation with the hospital Consultant Psychiatrist
Attend wider service meetings with senior colleagues to discuss service development
Provide specialist psychological assessment and formulation for all new admissions
Where required, carry an individual caseload, under supervision, providing appropriate psychological assessment and therapy
Manage this caseload including formulating, planning and evaluating interventions
Contribute to the delivery of the psychological groups programme including facilitation
Assist in the development of the team's psychological formulation and therapeutic skills
Support other members of the team, providing consultancy, supervision and training as appropriate
Participate in a programme of continuing professional development and annual appraisal
To consult with colleagues on the multi-disciplinary team on psychological aspects of clients’ assessments and therapy plans
To attend MDT meetings and CPA reviews
To offer leadership to the teams on the development and maintenance of a therapeutic environment
To attend and engage with team supervision and development activities
To participate in other meetings or committees as necessary
Involves and engages users of the service and others in discussions about service direction, improvements and the values on which they are based
Actively creates opportunities to enable everyone to learn from each other and external good practice
Works with others to make sure there is a clear direction for values, strategies and policies and leads the way when interests are in conflict
Evaluate the quality of own and others’ work in your own area and raise quality issues and related risks with the appropriate people
Support
Assist in the development of the team's psychological formulation and therapeutic skills
Support other members of the team, providing consultancy, supervision and training as appropriate
To contribute to the training and supervision of Assistant Psychologists, and other members of the MDT
To provide teaching and training sessions on psychological assessment, formulation and intervention and other key psychological theories and models to colleague groups and teams
Administrative
To record client contacts and assessments according to relevant policies, using the computerised system
To keep other notes and records as may be necessary to clinical psychology professional practice, using paper and/or computer systems
To provide written reports on psychological assessments, formulation, therapeutic progress and outcomes for colleagues and referrers

Educational
Maintain eligibility for the register of Chartered Psychologists
Doctorate in Clinical/Counselling Psychology
HCPC registration as a Clinical Psychologist
Specific Training, Skills & Knowledge
Practical knowledge of using full range of psychological theory models to inform clinical work and consultation
Understanding of working with a wide variety of client groups, presenting with problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including developmental and attachment trauma
Ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems including high levels of risk to self
Excellent skills in psychological assessment, formulation, intervention and evaluation
Exceptional communication skills in verbal, non-verbal and written modes including report writing
Ability to empathise and develop good therapeutic alliance with service-users with complex difficulties related to relational trauma
Demonstrates the ability to develop positive working alliances with multi-disciplinary teams
Ability to Formulate Complex processes
Capacity to conduct psychometric assessment where needed
Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients including those with diagnoses of PTSD and Personality Disorder
Other
Self-motivated and self-starter with the ability to prioritise and schedule work independently
Highly organised, detail-oriented and analytical
Adaptable in terms of working times and responsibilities e.g., out of hours work may be required with due notice.

Schoen Clinic York is a highly specialised Private Eating Disorder Hospital for adults in the North of England. We are currently based on the ground floor of Minster Grange, and in 2024 will be expanding to cover the full building. We are situated just off Haxby Road which is 10 minutes’ drive from York Train Station and 4 miles from the A64.
We offer highly specialised treatments for adults with Eating Disorders such as Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa through inpatient residential care, private short-stay support and day care treatment via outpatients. All of the treatments we provide are delivered in conjunction with each patient to be individualised to their needs.
