About the Role
As a Senior Mental Health Nurse (RMN), you will lead the nursing provision by supporting the Clinical Manager, Pathways Lead and Lead Nurse. You will be providing supervision to the nursing team and ensure the team provide the best and most diligent service to our patients. The post holder is responsible for providing high standards of care is delivered at all times. They will always ensure patient safety is at the heart of everything they do. You will lead the MDT, supporting a caseload of patients with an allocated nurse, HCA and any other allocated MDT representatives for the patient.
Key Responsibilities:
Have an allocated lead area for the service, e.g., the management of self-harm, up-keep of the clinic
room in line with policies and procedures
To act as patient advocate, ensuring privacy, dignity and confidentiality are met
To report any issues that are identified by patients or their relatives on a timely basis
To ensure a high standard of infection control and the prevention of all avoidable healthcare
associated infections
To administer all drugs and medications as per the local policies and procedures
To report to the lead nurse any nursing issues of significance or concern
To ensure that all policies, procedures, guidelines and work instructions that relate to nursing are
followed
To maintain sound and effective working relationships and communication with all hospital staff and
consultants
Ensure that the requirements of the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act and Children Act are
fulfilled, as applicable.
Supervise and manage a group of nurses and HCA’s within your team.
Ensure own monthly clinical supervision and undertake supervision of the nurses within the team.
Ensure own annual appraisal is completed with Lead Nurse and complete appraisals of nurses and
HCA’s with your team.

Skills & requirements
As a Senior Mental Health Nurse, you will have a valid NMC registration (RMN) with no restrictions, and be working clinically in a healthcare setting (primary care, eating disorders or mental health). You will have a strong understanding and respect for confidentiality for our patients, ability to plan care, and manage a caseload of patients. You will have the knowledge around CQC guidelines, clinical governance and be able to work within a multidisciplinary team.
