Becoming a patient at Schoen Clinic Chelsea
Your GP or another healthcare provider may have recommended you see one of our team at Schoen Clinic Chelsea. Or, you could have found us online or heard about us through a friend or relative.
However you found us, we're glad to see you. We appreciate how difficult the first step can be in seeking support for a mental health problem. Once you've decided to see one of our leading London mental health specialists at Schoen Clinic, we'll help you through the process and make it as simple as we can.
If you’re self-funding treatment, you can book an appointment, free triage call or assessment. A referral will be required from your GP or healthcare professional as it contains essential information about your medical history. Patients using private health insurance will need approval from their insurance company and an authorisation code before an appointment can be made.
You can make an appointment by calling our team on 020 4571 6315.
Not sure who the right specialist is for you? Our caring team will discuss your options with you and help you discover the appropriate route to take for your specific condition.
We’ll book you an assessment in as little as 24 hours and help you choose the best expert for your needs. If you’d prefer, you can also contact us using our online form.
How to pay for private treatment
Check if your insurance coverage will cover you and see if there is an excess before going to an appointment. Some insurance providers additionally want a referral in the form of a doctor's note. Once your insurance company has authorised your visit to, or treatment at our clinic, contact us to make your appointment. If you're paying for your own treatment we can give you the consultation fee.
Once your appointment has been confirmed, we will email you a letter with all the information you need to prepare for your visit.
If your private medical insurer covers your treatment, we will send them a bill directly. We will work with you to resolve any shortfall or excess on your account.
Unsure about insurance?
We're recognised by all major health insurers and work closely with them to ensure the process is as smooth as possible for you. Both assessments and treatment can be covered by private medical insurance and we're recognised by all major providers.
Many of our patients are covered for mental health treatment under their workplace insurance policies, so even if you don't have personal private medical insurance, it's worth checking with your employer to see if you're covered.
Our friendly and dedicated team are always on hand to help provide advice and process any claim.
Your safety is our highest priority
We rigorously and regularly assess treatment quality, patient safety, and patient experience. There is a culture of information sharing, learning, and best practice, and these are consistently observed by the leadership team as well as the larger organisation.
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is the independent regulator of health and adult social care in England. The commissioners monitor, inspect and regulate the quality of care delivered by providers to ensure that it is safe, effective, caring, responsive & well-led.
We constantly assess our performance against their criteria in order to continuously improve and provide the best possible quality of care. Our team were proud to achieve a 'Good' rating following an inspection in May 2022.
Our key initiatives in patient safety
- We were the first UK private healthcare organisation to directly employ many of our Consultants, allowing them to work in highly specialised multidisciplinary teams
- Our multidisciplinary team (MDT) approach puts patients in the centre of a team of experts
- Our Freedom to Speak Up Guardian enables staff to confidentially raise any concerns they might have
It's very rare, but things can go wrong from time to time. When they do, we are honest, conduct in-depth investigations, and make sure we take away lessons.
