Nicola is a highly skilled Specialist Eating Disorders Therapist offering private one-to-one therapy for adults with eating disorders in York.
Nicola has extensive experience in mental health and eating disorders having worked in the area for over 20 years before joining Schoen Clinic York in 2021.
Initially starting her career as a psychology graduate, Nicola worked as a Healthcare Assistant in an eating disorder unit in London (in order to gain ED experience), before being seconded to Mental Health Nursing through the Specialist Eating Disorder Unit there.
Since then she has continued her professional development, holding the position of Specialist Practitioner in Eating Disorders for over 12 years before joining the multidisciplinary team at Schoen Clinic York as a Specialist Eating Disorders Therapist in 2021.
Nicola has travelled extensively around Europe, Australia and New Zealand for a many years, and it's through travelling and meeting a wide range of people across varied cultures that she gained her interest in psychology and mental health issues. Nicola also owns her own eating disorder therapy business in York and Northallerton working privately with adults with eating disorders.
At Schoen Clinic York, Nicola offers one-to-one therapy, EMDR, MANTRA and Guided Self Help to patients and also runs the new MANTRA group at the hospital.
Nicola is currently undertaking Enhanced Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT-e) training and is due to start a part-time Post Graduate Diploma in Relational Integrative Psychotherapy in September 2023, training to become a Psychotherapist.
