About the Role

Schoen Clinic Newbridge is pleased to offer an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Family Therapist on a permanent full-time basis.

As a Medical Secretary you will provide efficient secretarial support to the hospital and Consultant(s) on a daily basis. Your support is relied upon by consultants, clinicians and patients and crucial to maintain an efficient and effective hospital. You will often be the first point of contract for users of the hospital and will proactively deal with enquiries from patients and colleagues in a professional manner.

Key accountabilities:

  • Typing of clinical related documents from Consultants’ dictations, including medical reports

  • Formatting, proofreading and sending all clinical letters through a secure platform

  • Scanning of relevant documentation onto our systems

  • Taking telephone calls, answering patient queries and taking messages

  • Flexibility to cover reception when needed

  • Booking / amending patient appointments for the outpatient scheme

  • General housekeeping and filing

  • Liaising with patients to book appointments, answer patient queries and take messages for consultants

  • General office support during annual leave periods

  • Regularly assessing working practices to identify possible improvements and improve efficiency

£23,000 - £24,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Skills & requirements

Key Skills & Experience

As a Medical Secretary you will need a strong understanding and respect for confidentiality, excellent communications skills and the ability to work effectively in pressured and time sensitive environment. Further duties will include (but not limited to):

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel & Word)

  • Self-motivated with demonstrable ability to prioritise and schedule work independently

  • Highly organised and detail orientated

  • Maintain professional conduct at all time, remaining calm and in control

  • Ability to communicate effectively across all client groups/stakeholders

  • ​Ability to work various times to suit business e.g. out of hours work may be required with due notice to support Consultant/Patient requirements

​Schoen Clinic Newbridge is a highly specialised treatment hospital for children, teens and young adults aged 8-18 years with eating disorders such as bulimia nervosa, anorexia nervosa and OSFED. We widely regarded as one of the best eating disorder hospitals for children, teens and young people in the United Kingdom. Schoen Clinic Newbridge is based on the outskirts of Sutton Coldfield, just off the A452 and 4 miles from the local train station.

We provide inpatient care and private short-stay options for children and teens aged 8-18 years and also offer a day care treatment programme where patients attend on set days, during the day.
